2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name (if provided), authentication provider details (e.g., Google OAuth), and the date and time of account creation.

Usage Information: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including: pages visited, features used, tool selections, session duration, click patterns, referring URLs, and timestamps of actions. We also collect information about detected AI scores and humanization requests in aggregated form for service improvement.

Text Data: When you use our tools, including detection, humanization, paraphrasing, grammar checking, and style suggestions, you submit text for processing. We process this text to deliver the requested service. See Section 5 (How We Handle Your Text) for details on text data retention.

Device and Technical Information: We collect your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen resolution, language preference, time zone, and unique device identifiers.

Payment Information: When you make a purchase, our payment processors (Chargebee and Stripe) collect your payment card details, billing address, and transaction history. We do not directly store your full payment card number. We receive from our payment processors a limited record of your transactions, including plan type, billing period, payment status, and the last four digits of your card.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to collect information about your browsing activity. See Section 8 (Cookies & Tracking Technologies) for details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes: (a) Service Delivery: to provide, maintain, and operate the Service and its features; to process your text through our AI tools; to manage your account and subscription; and to process payments and word pack purchases. (b) Service Improvement: to analyze usage patterns, identify bugs, improve our AI models and algorithms, develop new features, and optimize user experience. (c) Communications: to send you account-related communications (verification emails, billing receipts, subscription changes, security alerts); to respond to your support inquiries; and, with your consent where required, to send promotional communications about new features or offers. (d) Fraud Prevention and Security: to detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues; to enforce our Terms of Service; and to protect the rights, property, and safety of our users and the public. (e) Advertising and Analytics: to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns; to provide aggregated analytics; and to deliver interest-based advertising through third-party platforms (see Section 6). (f) Legal Compliance: to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), we process your personal data only when we have a valid legal basis. Our legal bases include: (a) Performance of Contract: processing necessary to provide you with the Service as described in our Terms, including account creation, tool functionality, subscription management, and payment processing. (b) Legitimate Interests: processing for our legitimate business interests, such as improving the Service, preventing fraud, ensuring security, and analyzing usage patterns. We balance our interests against your rights and only rely on this basis when our interests are not overridden by your privacy rights. (c) Consent: processing based on your explicit consent, such as sending marketing emails, setting non-essential cookies, and using your data for certain analytics purposes. You may withdraw your consent at any time. (d) Legal Obligation: processing necessary to comply with a legal obligation, such as responding to lawful requests from public authorities, tax compliance, or data retention requirements.

5. How We Handle Your Text

When you submit text for processing, it is sent to our servers and processed by our AI systems to deliver the requested service, such as detection, humanization, paraphrasing, grammar checking, or style suggestions. We retain the results of detection scans (including per-sentence AI probability scores) in association with your account for your scan history. The full text of your submissions is not permanently stored after processing is complete, unless you choose to save content within the Service.

We may use anonymized and aggregated data derived from text submissions to improve our AI models and algorithms. This aggregated data cannot be used to reconstruct or identify your original text. You may opt out of having your content used for AI model improvement by contacting us at hey@clearscript.ai.

6. Data Sharing & Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We share your data with the following categories of service providers who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations: (a) Authentication: Google Firebase (account management, user authentication). (b) Payment Processing: Chargebee (subscription management, billing), Stripe (payment card processing). (c) Cloud Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (server hosting, data processing), Vercel (frontend hosting and edge network). (d) AI Processing: third-party AI model providers (text analysis and natural language processing via API, subject to their respective data processing terms; specific providers may change over time). (e) Analytics: PostHog (product analytics, session recordings). (f) Advertising: Meta Platforms (conversion tracking via Meta Pixel), Google Ads (conversion tracking). (g) Email: We may use transactional email services to deliver account-related communications.

We may also share your information: (a) when required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; (b) to enforce our Terms of Service or investigate potential violations; (c) to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security issues, or technical problems; (d) to protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of Flouvou LLC, our users, or the public; or (e) in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which case your data may be transferred to the successor entity.

7. Interest-Based Advertising

We use third-party advertising platforms, including Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google, to deliver ads and measure their effectiveness. These platforms may collect information about your activity on our Service using cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. This information may be used to show you targeted advertisements on other websites and platforms. Under certain US state privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act), this activity may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. See our Do Not Sell page and Section 13 (US State Privacy Rights) for your opt-out rights.

8. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies: (a) Strictly Necessary Cookies: required for the Service to function, including authentication tokens, session identifiers, language preferences, and security cookies. These cannot be disabled. (b) Analytics Cookies: used to understand how users interact with the Service, including PostHog analytics. These are set only with your consent where required by law. (c) Advertising Cookies: used by Meta Pixel and Google Ads to track conversions and deliver targeted ads. These are set only with your consent where required by law. (d) Functional Cookies: used to remember your preferences and settings, such as theme, editor state, and tool preferences.

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings or through our cookie consent mechanism. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Please refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions.

9. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Specifically: (a) Account Data: retained for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period after account deletion (up to 90 days) to fulfill legal obligations and resolve disputes. (b) Text Data: processed in transit and not permanently stored in its original form after the requested operation is complete. Scan results (AI scores, metadata) are retained as part of your scan history while your account is active. (c) Payment Data: transaction records are retained for up to seven (7) years to comply with tax and financial regulations. (d) Usage and Analytics Data: retained in identifiable form for up to twenty-four (24) months, then anonymized and aggregated. (e) Cookies: session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies have varying expiration periods as specified in our cookie consent mechanism.

When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within thirty (30) days, except for data we are required to retain for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data: (a) Right of Access: the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. (b) Right of Rectification: the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data. (c) Right of Erasure: the right to request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions. (d) Right to Restrict Processing: the right to request that we limit the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances. (e) Right to Data Portability: the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and to transmit it to another controller. (f) Right to Object: the right to object to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes. (g) Right to Withdraw Consent: where processing is based on your consent, the right to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. (h) Right to Non-Discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hey@clearscript.ai. We will respond to your request within thirty (30) days or as required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. If we are unable to fulfill your request, we will explain why.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your country. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on: (a) Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission; (b) adequacy decisions by the European Commission where applicable; and (c) other lawful transfer mechanisms as appropriate. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your data to the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this Policy. IMPORTANT: The Service does not store personal data on servers located in the Russian Federation, and we make no commitment to comply with Russian data localization requirements (Federal Law No. 242-FZ). Users accessing the Service from restricted jurisdictions (see our Terms of Service, Section 1) do so at their own risk and are solely responsible for ensuring their use complies with all applicable local laws.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take steps to promptly delete such information. 13. US State Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia (or any other US state with applicable privacy legislation), you may have additional rights under your state's privacy laws, including: (a) the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell or share; (b) the right to delete personal information we have collected from you; (c) the right to correct inaccurate personal information; (d) the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; (e) the right to opt out of targeted advertising; and (f) the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

California residents: In the preceding twelve months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Our use of advertising cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads) may constitute "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. You may opt out via our Do Not Sell page. To submit a verifiable consumer request, contact us at hey@clearscript.ai. We will respond within 45 days. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

14. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. We do not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your tracking preferences through our cookie consent mechanism and the opt-out options described in this Policy.

15. Security Measures

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include: encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, access controls and authentication requirements, regular security assessments, and secure cloud infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Policy on the Service and updating the "Last updated" date above. For changes that materially affect your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to provide additional notice (such as an email notification) at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
